The health effects of gluten are not just limited to people who have Celiac disease or are allergic to gluten but can also affect thousands of people wo have a sensitivity to this foodstuff. Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, barley, and rye and the consumption of food products that contain gluten can cause damage to the small intestines of celiac disease sufferers. Those individuals who are allergic to gluten may experience symptoms like mouth ulcers, diarrhea, weight-loss, iron-deficiency anemia after eating gluten-laden foods.
